In the first book of the Splinter Cells series, there have been many threats from unknown people/organizations, targeting the United States. Now a small department of the U.S. government that “doesn’t exist” must find out who is targeting the nation, and deal with the situation before conditions escalate. A splinter cell is a member of the organization who must spy, steal, and destroy, anything, and anyone in his or her way. Now one of them, Sam Fisher, must use these tactics in order to defend his country.
The main character in this book is Sam Fisher, and he is a single father with a daughter who has no idea what he does for a living. He is single and lives in Maryland, within close contact with those calling the shots in Washington. Another important character in this book is Colonel Irving Lambert, who controls everything that Sam does, tells him where do go, and what to do. Carly St. John is the computer wizard who does everything she can to help Sam complete his mission and to get him out of trouble if needed.
On his missions, Sam gets to travel all over the word, especially into terrorist hot beds such as the Middle East and former Soviet countries. He travels by any means necessary, by plane, boat, or by any land transportation, to get where his needs to go. But he does live alone in his own house in a little town called Towson Maryland.
In my opinion, this is a very good book, the author David Michaels, does a very good job with creating a lot of suspense and action into it. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a lot of action and suspence.

C.Pistone Brown The Pact
The Pact is an eye catching, attention grabbing book. It makes you look at life differently after you read it. You will appreciate life and everyone around you more after you read this book. I thought it was a good book and it let me realizes what I have in life is good and I shouldn’t take it for granted. It teaches you many life long lessons along the way also.
The two main characters, Chris Hearte and Emily Gold, are born about 5 months apart. Their families are very close and they happen to live right next door to each other. They spend every day together and couldn’t be closer. They are best friends growing up and end up falling in love. They date, and are happy as ever, but the tragedy that comes across the two families is so unexpected, they don’t know what to do. Throughout this exciting, action filled love story, you will become so close to the two families you feel like its one of your own. You’ll experience the heart break and pain the families have to go through.
I personally like this type of writing style. It may be hard to read at some times, but it also makes the book more interesting and makes it more fun to read. I would greatly consider reading another one of her books because they are very interesting and packed with a lot of great things.

This is a great book to read if you enjoy mysteries. It keeps you engaged the entire time.

Or are you the girl who struggles with an extremely unstable family, but wants that stability back? Or could you be the girl on the verge of adulthood, who thinks that she’s ready? This story describes these girls as seniors in high school, and as they grow up into their mid thirties. These three girls have secrets; and these secrets are what ruin their lives. Bill Wiese experienced a vision on November 23, 1998. In his book he explains how he woke up at 3:00 am and was in hell being tortured by four beasts. He landed in a cell that was about fifteen feet high and ten feet in depth. When he was in the cell he says he felt very week and when he looked around inside his cell to see if he was the only one he discovered he was in there with two enormous beasts. These creatures were around ten to thirteen feet tall. He describes one of the beasts with bumps and scales all over its body, a huge jaw, and huge teeth. It was pacing in the cell like a bull. The second beast was taller and thinner and it had very long arms and razor sharp fins that covered its body. While he is waiting in the cell two more of these beasts come into his cell and then it goes completely dark. He was picked up by one of the creatures and thrown into the wall and he said he felt like every bone in his body was broken. Then the second beast picked him up from behind in a bear hug. The beast’s sharp fins and razor like claws pierced his back. Then the beast shoved his claws into bill’s chest and ripped them outward. He described the smell as if you were to take anything rotten such as a sewer, rotten meat, spoiled eggs, dead rotting animals, and then magnify it by a thousand times you may come close. Gecko, Terence and Arjay must work together to maintain the perfect lifestyle in an attempt to stay in the free world, but they feel the pressure of past lifestyle habits pulling them backwards.

The plot line begins with ex-marine John Triton coming back home after serving time in Iraq. His wife Kate and he decide to take a vacation. During there vacation three criminals Rome, Morgan, Angela and vescera rob a jewerly store. While running from the cops, they stop at a gas station, where John and Kate have stopped as well. When the cops arrive to get gas, Morgan shoots one and Rome injures the other one. After Verscera knocks John out with a fire exstinguisher, Kate is kidnapped. Morgan shoots at the gas tanks, causing the store to blow up with John inside. John comes out alive, and takes the cop car. He chases after them, with every single member shooting at him. They go through a construction path, and to the edge of a lake. Under heavy fire, John falls out the car and into the lake. With Kate thinking John is dead, Rome and his crew travel through the woods, dragging a bound Kate with them. John comes out of the lake and follows them through the woods to save Kate. This book is brutal. It has a lot of fight scenes and romance. Will John find his wife or will it be too late?

To Bella he was omnipresent and would never leave her side. What would you do if you fell madly in love with a vampire and had to keep the secret from everyone you knew including your best friend? How would you feel meeting his family for the first time knowing as soon as you walked in the house they all thirst for your blood? How could you go through a relationship everyday falling more and more in love with a vampire? Bella didn’t have a lot of time with Edward before she found out why their relationship was not a good idea for him. The idea that Edward was a vampire was unfathomable to Bella, she never really cared though. Edward always befuddled Bella by telling her to stay away from him, and that it wasn’t a good idea, but Bella wasn’t like the rest of the girls she liked the excitement and was never scared of him being a vampire. Bella was easy to trust Edward but maybe it was a mistake.

Her mother had left her. She had not seen her sister in years. Her father left her when she was a toddler. Ruby was underage and thought she could make it on her own. One day the landlords came into the apartment to find the place a mess. They asked Ruby where her mother was but she could not lie anymore. She was alone. Little did she know, her sister Cora still cared about her and found out that Ruby needed someone. She took her in. Cora’s lifestyle was different then the way Ruby was used to living. She had the perfect life. Ruby does not want to commit to this new life and goes back to the apartment a lot. She always keeps the key to it with her. Ruby ends up having to go to a new school, making new friends, and learning valuable lessons. He helps her out with everything. Ruby is not used to people caring about her. She has to learn to let people in to her life because not everyone is going to hurt her. Will she learn this valuable lesson? Will she give up on her old life?
The setting is at the school, Cora’s house, and at the old apartment. This is important because depending on which location it is at in the story, it sets the mood of what is about to happen.

“But this was no dream, and unlike a nightmare, I wasn’t running for my life; I was racing to save something infinitely more precious” (Meyer 1). Although the premise of New Moon, by Stephenie Meyer, may only be existent in a dream, or a nightmare, the plotline of the novel is captivating and intriguing. The main character, Bella Swan, is dating Edward Cullen; a vampire who refrains from hunting humans. The Cullens decide to leave town, which causes Bella a lot of pain. However, when Bella finds out Edward plans on being killed, Alice, who is Edward’s psychic sister, and Bella try and save him, but when they arrive their lives are also in danger. Was risking her life to save her one true love worth the price of losing her own life? Will Alice, Edward, and Bella be granted freedom, or will they all be killed by hungry vampires?
The setting is crucial to the believability of the occurrences within the novel. Forks, Washington has many forestry areas which provide the battleground for the werewolves and vampires, and reflect the eerie characteristics of the supernatural characters.
Meyer poetically uses figurative language to create a captivating romance, which stimulates the interest and imagination of the female audience. Although the relationship between Bella and Edward has the characteristics of a beautiful love story, there are flaws within their story that make it extraordinary and inimitable. Meyer also utilizes description and dialogue to make the characters appear more realistic, even though their existence in our world is inconceivable.

In the spring of 1992 Christopher McCandless hitchhiked to Alaska and virtually disappeared. This novel by Krakauer takes readers on McCandless’s journey from when he graduated Emory University to his adventures in the Alaska tundra. This is a true story and Krakauer pieces the story together through different letters that McCandless wrote and by interviewing the people he met along his journey. Upon graduation McMandless decided to road trip and wanted to ultimately end up in Alaska, he packed up his yellow Datsun and gave his life savings of 25,000 to charity and headed out without telling anyone where he was going or how long he would be gone. Besides McCandless the other main characters are the author, Krakauer who wrote for Outdoors magazine and heard McCandless’s story and wrote an article in Outdoor magazine that got so much attention that he decided to dig deeper in the story and eventually wrote this book retelling what he thinks is McCandless’s story. The other main characters in the book are the people along the way that McCandless meets, the most important and most often character is Wayne Westerberg. He gave McCandlless a job in South Dakota that McCandless stayed at the longest and Wayne knew the most about McCandless out of all the others in his travels. The setting in this book is very important, it is the outdoors; all the different places that McCandless went and his hunger for the “wild” places where no one else has traveled and seen. The author’s style is like you are reading McCandless’s diary as well as Krakauers; which makes it very easy to read and follow.

And they spend a lot of time together, but he soon finds out that she has another boyfriend. Gabby is soon put into the position of who does she choose, Travis or her boyfriend Kevin. Who she chooses is a shocker. Also at the ending there is a terrible accident. That is life changing. The Choice takes places in North Carolina on the waterfront. Sparks uses ways to lure you into the book and make you not want to put it down, he uses techniques to make it a true love story that you will truly love. Sparks truly manages to write yet another love story that any teenage girl or older adult would love. Anyone who is looking to read a love story will enjoy The Choice or any of Sparks’ books.

I read the story Brother Odd by Dean Koontz. This story takes place at a monastery in California. Odd Thomas, the main character is a young man with the ability to see the spirits of the dead. He is a guest at the monastery, but because of his special trait he becomes extremely important. During the beginning of the story Odd sees many ominous spirits, which foreshadows that a terrible event is going to take place. Odd and his friends have to find out how to stop this catastrophe before it is too late. In order to stop this event from happening Odd must speak to children at a hospital for severely ill patients. Odd can communicate with spirits through the medium of children that have died, but were then revived. If Odd cannot stop this terrible event from taking place then many people will die. The setting in the mountains of California creates a snow-ridden landscape, which makes Odd Thomas’s mission extremely difficult. The author makes this book very exciting; at every point in the book there is an intensity that the reader can almost feel. He uses humor effectively throughout the book, which provides a good break from the story. He also utilizes imagery extremely well; he makes the reader feel as if he or she is really there. Overall, Koontz writes a very compelling and intriguing novel that should be read by one who likes a good action story.
